| | • Catch April’s Feature Workshop this Sunday: Baby Boom!! Make loads of cute stuff for that chubber. (Toronto and Pickering)
• Our next Kids After School program starts this Monday (April 29) and runs from 4:15-6:15. (This one’s so exclusive, it’s not even on the schedule online!) Another Kids After School program runs on Wednesdays (4-6) and starts mid-May.
• Loads of shorter run classes start in May, and a brand new set of Introductory Sewing starts the first week of June. (Registrations for both locations have already begun.)
• Great prizes are on their way to everyone who joined us at our two parties mid-April. Thanks for celebrating our Avenue Road birthday with us and for welcoming us to the Pickering neighbourhood. We love The Picks! (And, of course, the posh Avenue Road!)

Seen at: Cut Out + Keep
Make it TSS-style: Why not try denim and add some lace? Still have your Bedazzler? Use that to give it some edge. (Go old Degrassi!)
Tip: If you want a sturdier roll-up, apply some fusible interfacing to one layer of fabric. It will stand the test of time, and mad-gardening.

Do you love leather? Have you thought about sewing with it, but refrained cause you didn’t know what the heck to do? Well here’s a quick 101 on what you’ll need to get started: a wedge point needle (it allows the material to close up around the hole after it punctures), a rotary cutter (looks like a mini pizza cutter), a leather-friendly presser foot (use a walking foot or a teflon foot), polyester thread (cotton thread isn’t strong enough) and instead of pins you need to use double-sided leather tape (if you use pins they will create permanent holes in the leather). Also, make sure you use a longer stitch length, as smaller stitches tend to create puckering. To you vegans out there, this also applies to pleather!

Lots of daytime classes will run this summer. Week-long bootcamp types, fashion programs, and kids and teen classes. Keep an eye out!
Since bathing suit season is sure to be on your mind, why not try making one yourself? We’ll soon be announcing the date of our bathing suit/bikini workshop. This course is intermediate and students must have sewing experience or have taken our Introductory Sewing class or Quick Start class. Class will run in July. | | | | |

We’ve got three intermediate classes starting this month, plus a feature workshop on how to tame that wild serger of yours.
