Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving! Busy month already. Classes are in full swing and we’re gearing up for the next set at the end of the month. And sneak peek: at the beginning of November, we’re happy to announce our new quilting class, Make a Quilt!!! Perfect for beginners and those who want a challenge. For some free pre-Halloween fun, swing by the studio Sunday, October 21st between 1:30 and 5:30. This is your opportunity to work on that costume you’ve been waiting to make! Instructors will be available to help you wing it and we’ll have a fabric/pattern swap going on to help you clean house or stock up. Donations graciously accepted for Unicef.

Pin Cushion Bracelet
(1) Find a bottle cap, and cut out a circle of fabric approximately four times the size. Cut out a suitable sized ball of foam.
(2) Wrap the foam in the fabric, folding and pinning at all sides. Take a needle and thread and sew the corners of the fabric to meet in the middle.
(3) Using a strong glue attach the ball to the cap, leaving the smooth side of cap free for your wrist.
(4) Cut a vinyl strap long enough to fit around your wrist. Glue cap to the strap and leave to dry.
(5) Get some Velcro with tape and attach appropriately, et voila! |

Are you notorious for dropping pins on the floor? Danger zone! Just buy some sticky sided magnet strips and put a couple on the top of your machine to hold those pins as you sew. You can also put a magnet strip on the side of your machine to hold your small metal thread clippers.

FYI: Beginning early November, we will be welcoming a quilting-for-beginners course to our roster! This class runs for seven weeks (it’s three hours per class) and teaches you all the quilting basics. Each session will focus on making a different type of quilt, so take the course again and again. Class bonus: you will leave each program with a finished quilt! Prerequisite: Introductory Sewing or Quick Start.
